Free Date Night Gift Tag Printables

 

 

 

I needed a wedding gift so I put together some fun things for a couple to have a stay at home date night.  I made the tags for my gift generic so that they could be used for several different occasions.  Below are the tags.  Just right click on the image and save them as a picture.  You can resize it in your word processor program to the size that you need.

 

Here is how I used my tags. First I started with a nice blanket throw.

 

  I placed it in a shrink wrap bag that is available at the dollar store and used the throw as a base for my gift.

Then I added some items that would be fun for a date night.  For example I put in a movie, with treats, an Italian cookbook, some chocolates, etc.  I used clear packaging tape to hold the items into place.

  

I tied the package at the top and taped down any loose ends with packaging tape.  The shrink wrap will shrink, but not enough to look perfect.  By taping down loose edges you will get a more professional looking package.

 

Not all basket wrap is shrink wrap, so make sure you get one labeled "shrink wrap." 

Then I added a cute bow and the cut out Date Night gift tag.  Here is the finished product:

How To Make A Harry Potter Wand

My daughter was going to a girl's camp with a Harry Potter theme.  We had seen a blog on how to make Harry Potter wands and wanted to make some for camp.  The blog that we saw did theirs a little different.

Here is an example of ones that my grandchildren made:

My sister-in-law made us a bunch of wands for our Harry Potter Christmas.  She added some cute things like spiders, jewels and a skull  Here's how they turned out.    

This is how we made our wands:

First we used wooden skewers found in our kitchen drawer.  Then we got out the hot glue guns and started covering one of the sticks with hot glue.

We added a little bit of glue at a time, then we would dip the wand into water to cool the glue. 

While the glue was still soft and warm, we used our fingers to mold the glue into bumps and ridges.

We just kept repeating this process until we got a wand that we were happy with.  We thought that the more bumps and flaws, the more authentic the wand looked when completed. When you are happy with the shape of you wand you can add jewels or trinkets to make your wand unique.  Once we were happy with the shape of the wand we painted it with craft paint. 

We liked using several colors to make a more rustic looking wand.  On many of wands we finished with a dark coat of black and then rubbed it off for an antique look.

To help the paint dry faster we used a blow dryer.

When the paint dried, it would rub off , so we sprayed a few coats of clear lacquer for protection. 

 

The wands lasted through camp, and the girls had a great time.  Here are some of the other wands that we came up with.  One of our favorites was a wand with no paint.  It looked like a glass wand. 

As you see we made many different shapes and colors.  I would imagine you could also make a cute princess wand by adding sparkles. 

Free Printable For Nevada State College Graduation

We had a family member graduate from Nevada State and I had to throw together a quick graduation party.  I only had a day to put everything together and this is what I came up with.  I thought if there are any other people graduating from Nevada State, maybe they could use the printable below.

Just right click on your mouse on the picture and save it into your pictures.  Then you can use your word program to make it whatever size that you need, or print it out as different sized pictures.  I printed it out as wallet sized pictures.  I cut them up and added tooth picks to put as decorations on cakes and cupcakes.  Here's an example:

 

I also got a big chocolate cake, edible gold spray, and a plastic scorpion.  I sprayed the edges of the cake and the scorpion with the gold.  Then I added some of the small Nevada State signs.  I was in a hurry, but this is how it turned out:

 If any of you with cake decorating talent do a cake that is amazing, I would love to see it.  I also decorated the room with a banner that had larger versions of the Nevada State sign.

 

I used black and gold plates, napkins, silverware and cups.  It was a lot of fun and my family member seemed to really appreciate the effort to celebrate her graduation from Nevada State.

Update an Out-of-Date Harvest Wreath

I had an old wreath that I had gotten on clearance some years ago. I was going to throw this one away, but I hate throwing things away, so this one was on its way to the thrift store .  After shopping for new wreaths, which were quite pricey, I decided to try to update this one.  I bought a big W, some craft floral bundles (mine had cat tails and such), and some dollar store rustic pumpkins.  The ribbon I already had, and same with the contact paper.

I pulled off all of the blue and purple flowers. 

Then I faced the big W with contact paper.  I just traced around the back side of the W onto contact paper.  I cut it out a little small so that the contact paper would not go off of the edge.  Then I just added the contact paper to the big W.

I started by adding the floral bundles.  Next was the polka-dot ribbon. After that the big W attached with a lot of hot glue.  Lastly I added the pumpkins.  I have gotten so many compliments on it that it made the project worthwhile.

I decided to add a bow in the pumpkins just for some extra black. 

At Halloween I put a big spider on it.
