Alice in Wonderland Cheshire Cat Tail Treats

These were so much fun to make and were a huge hit at the party!  I gave them out as prizes.  Here's how we made them:

Place 4 marshmallows on a sturdy stick in a jagged pattern.  Dip them into melted caramel.  If you want the marshmallows to keep their shape then put them in the freezer for about an hour.  We did not do this and they lost some of their shape.  We thought it made them look more like real cat tails.

You can melt caramels, but we made homemade caramels from this recipe called The Best Caramel Apples from allrecipes.
I doubled the recipe and put the leftover caramel in a tupperware container.  I sliced them into pieces and rolled the in parchment paper and served them as another treat.  They were a hit also.

Once the caramel coat is on the marshmallows store them in the fridge until firmly set, about 2 hours.  While the caramel is still warm you can push it around to keep puddles from forming at the bottom.  If you find some puddles after it hardens they can be cut off with a knife.

Melt a couple of packages of pink melting chocolates in the microwave.  Make sure you only run the microwave for about 25 seconds at a time, stirring in between cooking.  When the chocolate is completely melted dip the caramel covered marshmallows in the chocolate, coating it from top to bottom.  I used a spoon to scrape off some of the chocolate so that it wouldn't be too thick.

The extra melting chocolate I poured onto parchment and put bunny sprinkles on it.  I broke it into pieces and served it as bunny bark.

Immediately after coating the marshmallows with chocolate, sprinkle them with purple sugar in a diagonal pattern.  Allow them to cool in the fridge for a couple of hours before placing them into cellophane bags.
