Harry Potter Trivia Game

This game is based off of an old game that I used to play with my seminary students called "Scripture Man."  I updated the gameboard a few years ago.  Then I thought that since I went to the trouble of making a new board, maybe I could adapt the game to use for other subjects.

Our family loves Harry Potter so I thought I would make a Harry Potter version.  You can use any set of questions.  There are so many places on the web with questions.  You can use those, make up your own, or I have an easy set of questions for your convenience (below).

Harry Potter Trivia Game Answer Sheet

Each player receives a copy of the scoreboard/answer sheet below.

To play the game have the players fill in the grid on their answer sheet with the appropriate number of items listed across the top of the board.  They will need to draw one snitch, two wands, three broomsticks, four house elves, etc.  Here is an example:

After the players have drawn the pictures (example above) then you start asking questions.  After each question you pick a coordinate out of a sack (coordinate squares are on the instruction sheet below).

Harry Potter Trivia Game Directions:

Game Playing Example:

Players write the number of points they get for the the picture in the coordinate that was called.  If they get the answer wrong they get a zero, except if their drawing is negative points (a spider or the dementor).  Then they have to take off that many points.  Repeat the process for all twenty questions.  Have the players keep a running total of their points.  It makes the game more fun and competitive.

Since the game has 20 questions instead of 25 (the number of drawings in the coordinates) it makes the game a little more competitive because not every square's points will be used for the final score.

The player with the most points at the end wins!

Harry Potter Question Sheet:

I really hope that the game is fun for you!

I have several other versions of the game that are more generic:

Education Man, Scarecrow or Snowman

Scripture Man, Scarecrow or Snowman

Education Man, Education Snowman, Education Cupid, Education Leprechaun, Education Rabbit, Education Garden or Education Scarecrow - A fun game to play while studying for a subject

I want to thank whoever created this game.  It's an old game that has been around that is usually referred to as "Scripture Man".  It is a lot of fun to play in class.  I thought it would also be good for general learning, so I made another version called "Education Man".

The reason that I am doing this post is because I always have such a hard time trying to find the game when I need it and the version I was using was very old.  I was trying to update it and decided, "Oh, what the heck, just redo the whole thing instead of trying to cut a paste!"  So here it is.  Maybe it will help you also.

I have several versions:
Education Man - Nice Version
Education Man - Mean Version (lose all)
Education Snowman - Nice Version
Education Snowman -Mean Version (lose all)
Education Scarecrow - Nice Version
Education Scarecrow -Mean Version (lose all)
Education Cupid - Nice Version only
Education Leprechaun - Nice Version only
Education Rabbit - Nice Version only
Education Garden - Nice Version only

After playing this with my students a couple of times they informed me that they hate the bomb that makes them lose all of their points.  Because of this I have made a nicer version where the bomb only causes them to lose 50 points.  I have included both versions.

If you want to use it just copy and paste it into your printing program, or right click and save it into your pictures.

Education Man Nice Version:

Education Man Mean Version:

Education Snowman Nice Version:

To make the game go quicker you can tell the students to draw an 8 for the snowman,
and a squiggly line for the melted snowman.

Education Snowman Mean Version:

Education Scarecrow Nice Version:

Education Scarecrow Mean Version:

Education Cupid - Nice Version Only

Education Leprechaun - Nice Version Only

Education Rabbit - Nice Version Only

Education Garden - Nice Version only

I also have a Harry Potter version!

I also have BINGO games in every season that are made for learning.  You have the students fill in the words with what you are studying and then everyone has a different BINGO board.  It's a fun way to study.  Check them out here.

Harry Potter Direction Signs - FREE PRINTABLES

While traveling in London my husband and I found ourselves at King's Cross Station.  Since we were there, we decided to get our photos at the Harry Potter Platform 9 3/4.  It was about a 40 minute wait, but we are thrilled to be able to share these photos with you.

After the FREE printable signs below,
I will post a few more photos of the
Harry Potter Store at Platform 9 3/4.
You'll find them at the very end of the blog post.

Here are some printable Harry Potter Signs that I have made for our Harry Potter Party.

They are easy to print.  Just right click your mouse and save them into your photos.  You can also copy and paste them into your printing program.

Print on cardstock for the best results.

If you would like to print a bigger version take them to a printing store and print them out on Engineering Paper.

Platform 9 3/4 Harry Potter Store

As promised here are a few more photos of the Platform 9 3/4 Harry Potter Store.

King's Cross Station

King's Cross Station is an updated and busy station in the middle of London.
It is full of shops, eateries, and people.
The Platform 9 3/4 is not located in the station area,
 but in the shopping area.
There is almost always a wait to get into the store,
or to get your photo taken.
The good news is that if you get your photo taken
you get to go into the store without waiting.

After we waited in line for photos,
they have attendants who pose you for photos.
They only had two different poses that they showed us how to do.
If you have your own ideas I'm sure that they would let you do them, if they don't take too long.
We had someone in line photograph our photo shoot.
They also have several scarfs for each of the
Hogwart's houses, so you don't have to bring yours.

Looking in the window.

Display cart in the center.

The stuffies.

Checking out.
